Helpful Tips For Choosing Promotional Products Building brand awareness for your business in the marketplace means you’ll need branded promotional items, yet the amount of options available can be mind-boggling. Here are some helpful tips that help when choosing your next promotional product. Recipient: At the core of any branding and marketing effort is understanding your customers and potential clients. It is important to know your target audience; their age, income, interests, industry or business, and even their capacity to make a buying decision for your product or services. These can influence which promotional products would work best for your brand. Also, think about what types of promotional items you have and like. Choose corporate gifts or promotional products that you’d be happy to own. Event: Where are you promoting? Think about what kind of products might be helpful in that situation. For example, trade shows and conventions draw a large number of people who love to pick up bags and totes. Attendees can carry brochures and other promotional products they pick up during the event. Best of all, the tote bag is a product that will be visible during the show, giving your company the exposure you desire, and remain useful long after the event. Long-Term: How much staying power do you want your message to have? Some products, like desk accessories, tech items and clothing, can remain with your customer or prospect for years, even if they are only used or worn once or twice a month. Items that can claim a spot in a kitchen or car can serve as a reminder of your product or service. Your goal is for the recipient to keep your company or product in front of your customer and in their mind so that they are more likely to call you when the time comes that they need your service or product. Usefulness: One thing we suggest is that products are chosen for their usefulness. Useful products have a higher perceived value and will be kept for a longer amount of time. Products that are thrown away are a waste of money and resources. Choose promotional products that are useful and helpful to your prospect, such as a pen/notebook combo at a trade show, or a shirt and hat at a golf outing, or a solar charger and pen with a stylus for software customers. Any item will certainly be tossed out or left untouched in a drawer or bottom of a purse if it is not useful. Quantity, Price and Budget: One rule-of-thumb to remember for promotional products is that less expensive the items generally have higher minimum quantities. Sometimes it is better to go with the higher-priced smartphone accessory in smaller quantities than to choose a really cheap giveaway that you need to order thousands of. Of course this will need to be determined by your overall budget. Thinking Ahead: Deciding on the strategic plan for your promotional products is very important. While some promotional products can be ordered and received in less than a week, most promotional product orders take one to two weeks of lead time or longer. If you want to have the greatest flexibility in choosing the perfect promotional product for your meeting, campaign or announcement, be sure to plan for enough lead time. Choosing the perfect promotional products can be daunting, but it is far easier when you have the right consultants on your team, helping you every step of the way. I loved that you talked about different tips in choosing the right promotional product because this is so relevant and helpful in making sure that we give out products that can promote our brands and still be useful. I am running an accessories store and we are nearing our 1st anniversary. I am planning to have a promotional product made for the store to give away to customers as a thank you for their support. Thanks for the great tips! 12/18/2018 04:28:24 pm
You mentioned that we should look to choose a product that is useful because if it isn't, it will be tossed out. It makes sense that people want stuff that they can use! I'd imagine that getting custom promotional products like pens or shirts are really popular because people will always use those! 2/27/2019 03:39:06 pm
Thanks for pointing out that it's a good idea to choose promotional products based on their usefulness, since it's usually the most useful products that are kept around the longest. The company I work for is considering having some promotional products made to hopefully attract more customers. I wasn't sure how we should go about deciding on the products, so your tip about usefulness will really help out as we move forward.

To be honest, I think that promotional rulers are useful which is why I decided to choose them to promote my company's brand. Thanks for pointing out that it has to be related to an event where I'm promoting it so that it can be an effective advertisement tool. I'll try to make sure that the company that produces it on our behalf will allow me to set a certain budget for it to create a ruler with a decent quality. 6/6/2019 05:40:52 pm
Keeping within the right budget is a big deal that might be useful for a friend of mine. She is trying to make sure that she is getting the the right deal for her promotional products. It might be smart to check the quantity of items that she needs. 3/5/2020 12:00:56 am
My company would like to have further recognition offline. That's why our boss decided to have the company's brand logo printed on tumblers and notepads, which will be distributed to employees and clients. Well, we made the right decision, because as you've stated, printing it on not useful items will just be a waste of time because it's just going to be thrown away. 5/20/2021 02:00:27 pm
I'd like for promotional products to be used at events so people can carry them around and remember the event. Them carrying it around is free advertising. That can save you more money. 12/8/2021 08:13:04 pm
I like how you mentioned that it is important to consider the current situation and the products that might be helpful. My uncle mentioned to me last night that he is hoping to find promotional products service for their business customers and asked if I have any idea what is the best option to do. Thanks to this informative article and I'll be sure to tell him that he should consult a trusted promotional products service as they can answer all his inquiries and will provide good-quality service. I like that you talked about having custom promotional products ready to be picked up by attendees from your stall during an event. I can imagine how that would help you be remembered by potential customers from bazaars. It would also help with getting others aware of your presence if they saw your product from others who got the items even if they did not attend the same event. Comments are closed.
